Lake Country Human Resource Association Board Meeting Minutes December 12, 2005

         Present:
Natasha Nodsle-President
Sharlo Meyer-President Elect
Teresa Johnson-Secretary/Treasurer
Chris Kotschevar-Member at Large
Nancy Belka-Member at Large

Minutes of the August, 2005 board meeting was reviewed.

Natasha brought up the possibility of reviewing the by-law for the group to make sure they are up to date. This will be done at a later date.

Natasha also did a review of the National Leadership Conference she attended in Washington DC. She highly recommends it to anyone and would like to remind you that if you are President or President elect you have to opportunity of attending.

At the conference Natasha learned of a lot of ways for chapters to raise money and several of them sounded very interesting. We will be going over a few of these at the next regular meeting.

Sharlo and Natasha are working speakers from SHRM to attend our meetings. We are able to have one per year free of charge. Our speaker for January will be Sam Parent; he is currently the Minnesota State SHRM Council Director and also represents the state of Minnesota on the SHRM North Central region. Sam will talk about the role of the state council and how it can help individual chapters. Sam will give an overview of how the chapters, state and national fit together and also talk about best practices, SHRM as a Resource and Volunteer Leadership Opportunities.

We discussed the possibility of raising the dues to $25 per person for 2006-2007, after some discussion it was decided to move forward with this.

Our March meeting will be Performance Appraisals. Mike Hewlett will do a 2 hour presentation on Performance Appraisals, specifically the conversation that comes along with the appraisal. It will be 2 hours in length so please plan on the proper amount of time away from work.

Our “Spot Light Member” for the month of January will be Lori Meader from Arvig’s. We will be having a tour of Barrel ‘o’ Fun with Nancy Belka after the January meeting for anyone interested.

Don’t forget elections for the coming year are coming up. Please consider a position on the board.

The next meeting will be on February 9, 2006 8:30-9:30 a.m., Sunflower Hill Coffee Shop in the Detroit Lakes Washington Square Mall.
