Lakes County Human Resource Association Board Meeting Minutes June 8, 2006

Minutes of the April 14, 2006 board meeting were not available for review.

A discussion was held on the May meeting speaker, Ann Byrnes, Regional Manager, North Central Society for Human Resources Management. A review of the evaluation forms will take place at the next board meeting.

The July meeting will be a roundtable discussion of retention and recruitment. Members should come prepared to discuss items such as; application and screening process, assessments, interviewing, pre-employment testing, and all other miscellaneous items.

Programming for the upcoming year was reviewed. Topics discussed were:

• Supervisory/Leadership Training
• Wellness
• Drugs/Alcohol in the Workplace
• Succession Planning
• Terminations/Severance Agreements
• Avoiding Unions
• Community Reintegration (military personnel re-entering the community and workforce)
• HR Law Update

Sharlo will survey all LCHRA members to determine the final schedule.

The group discussed the possibility of a five year recognition luncheon for the November meeting. Nancy B. will check on details.

A discussion was held on putting together a LCHRA Compensation and Benefits Survey. Sharlo will send a communication to all members asking for volunteer committee members. The committee would design, compile, and share the results at the November meeting.

The next board meeting is scheduled for August 10, 2006 from 8:30-9:30 a.m., Sunflower Hill Coffee Shop in the Detroit Lakes Washington Square Mall.
