Minutes of the June 15, 2007 board meeting were reviewed and approved.

Natasha Nodsle attended a national wellness conference hosted by the Wellness Councils of America. The course consisted of 16 hours and she is now a certified wellness coordinator. Natasha highlighted the benefits of the course and the points she will cover at the September chapter meeting. Amy Lundberg, owner of Aim for Fitness, along with Natasha Nodsle will present Wellness in the Workplace at the September 13th meeting.

Programming for upcoming months was reviewed. The November topic will be a presentation from the Village Family Service Center on “Generational Gaps”. The January topic will include an opportunity for chapter members to break into teams to test their HR knowledge in a game show atmosphere. A SHRM speaker will be invited for March or May. Future programming also may include roundtables, performance appraisals, and a walk through of a chapter member building facilities.

LCHRA has been approached to co-sponsor a speaker that will discuss a Wage & Hour topic in Perham during 2008. The co-sponsorship is no cost to the chapter, the only thing the speaker asks is to use the LCHRA and SHRM logos. The board approved of the co-sponsorship. This is also a recruitment opportunity for membership.

The group discussed the MN State SHRM conference to be held in St. Cloud on October 14-16, 2007. The board discussed ways to encourage attendance at the conference. The board will host a social and dinner for any LCHRA members in attendance. Jackie Buboltz will announce at the September chapter meeting and send around a sign-up sheet. Jackie Buboltz put together a “fishing” themed basket this year for the conference. Local chapter members will have the option to purchase their local basket that is donated to the State SHRM conference at the September meeting.

Sharlo Meyer reported on the CAPS:
-Meeting requirements such as attending state council meetings could improve for a better overall rating of the chapter. Group discussed ways to do this in the future.
-Large number of members took the PHR/SPHR certification as compared to 2007.

Group discussed assigning a board member to keep informed and update the group on legislative activity affecting HR. Jackie Buboltz will follow up with a board member.

Group reviewed the financial statement. All dues, with the exception of a few, have been renewed for 2008. Jackie Buboltz will remind members at the September meeting.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 11, 8:30-9:30 am, Sunflower Hill Coffee Shop in the Detroit Lakes Washington Square Mall.
