Board Meeting Minutes April 10, 2008

Minutes of the February 15th meeting were reviewed and approved.
The group reviewed and approved the financial statement through April 9th.
The group discussed a donation to the SHRM foundation, Jackie B., motioned to approve a $100 donation, seconded by Sharlo M.
New members to date: Northern Connections-Debra Carpenter, Black Financial-Margo Black, Emmanuel Homes-Jennifer Klabunde. The group discussed other potential members.
HR certifications were discussed and how to recognize accomplishments at upcoming meetings. Jackie will recognize Nancy Belka who recently passed her PHR, during the May chapter meeting.
The SHRM MN State Leadership conference will be held in May. Teresa J. will be attending, the conference is also open to any other board member.
The group discussed requests from companies to place a link on the LCHRA website to their websites. The group decided to charge a fee of $50 and the LCHRA president would forward company information to all members.
The group discussed upcoming elections during the May chapter meeting. Three positions will be vacant: President Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, Member-at-Large. Jackie will put our a notice to the members regarding the vacancies and personally contact potential candidates.
Programming for upcoming months was reviewed. A SHRM speaker had been previously considered for May but due to travel expenses, this topic is being delayed. Jackie received a DVD and discussion points from SHRM titled “Trust Travels, The Starbucks Story” which highlights an organizations social and corporate responsibilities to its employees. The session is eligible for HRCI certification credits, Sharlo will apply to receive credits for the group in time for the May meeting. A roundtable meeting will be held in July on the topic of community/civic service involvement. Other topics suggested for September and November include; disaster recovery (pieces of plans), reducing health care costs and a leadership workshop from Mike Harrison of Endurance America.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 12th at 8:30 - 9:30 am Sunflower Hill Coffee Shop in the Detroit Lakes Washington Square Mall.
